Transition Skills Training is proud to be a National Nonprofit Partner of Carry The Load, a nationwide movement to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. During the month of May, we walk to remember the fallen — and we invite you to walk with us.
Joining our Carry The Load team is free and open to everyone. No donation or purchase required. All events are family-friendly and free.
This year, we’ve added a Hawaii Vacation Raffle to our Memorial May activities. Participation is optional. Only 250 tickets will be sold.
Each $50 ticket = 1 chance to win a 7-night getaway in paradise.

In Dallas, memorial posters will line the Katy Trail, sharing the stories and faces of those we’ve lost. It’s a deeply meaningful way to observe Memorial Day with reverence — by carrying their legacy forward.
When you come to a Carry The Load walk, many choose to pin names or photos of fallen friends and family members to their backs — a powerful gesture to honor those who gave their lives in service.
A moving reminder that each step is taken in memory of someone who can no longer walk beside us.
We will be walking with Carry The Load in Austin and Dallas.
There are hundreds of Carry The Load events around the country and you can join in with any of them. If you’re looking for a chance to walk with Carry The Load in your city, click the link below to see the map and find your best events — there are cycling and even river tubing options on the list! https://www.carrytheload.org/memorial-may
The family of TST Director CJ Niehoff lost a son, a brother, a cousin, a friend.
Greg served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was in a heavy mortar platoon in Dinh Tuong Province when a gasoline explosion burned him badly. He succumbed to his wounds two days later. “Everybody loved Greg, both back home and in-country. He was a special part of our family and we’re all proud of his service and were devastated by his sacrifice,” recalled his cousin C.J. Niehoff. Greg’s family received a letter from a fellow soldier, Dennis Thian, explaining that Greg had helped him get through Vietnam and was a “hell of a man.” There are many similar stories about Greg Olsen.
We have scheduled Greg's memorial poster to be on display in his hometown and where family and friends are likely to be participating in the Memorial May events. These events are not a rah-rah fundraising opportunity. They are so much more. We are making sure that the fallen are remembered.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions about how you can participate or support this work. We need boots on the ground, hands at work and of course, donations are always welcome.
